The solutions in this guide are based on the techniques I have developed in thousands of hours of QuickBooks consulting services. In the course of my day-to-day consulting activities, I noticed that different clients frequently encountered the same problems. I developed a methodical remedy that results in your Quick- Books being easier to work with, and your being able to generate more accurate reports.
This guide is a written version of some of the procedures that have helped people in hundreds of small businesses to organize their QuickBooks. The focus of my actions is to clean up your Chart of Accounts. The analogy I use is that your transactions are like apples and your accounts are like baskets. The aim is to put all your apples in the right baskets. This guide is designed so that as you go through each page, your Chart of Accounts and hence your Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports are progressively organized. In the next two pages there are checklists with reference to solutions which are linked to the pages providing solutions.
The guide has many pictures which may cause pages to load slowly in your browser. Rather than remove the graphics for a faster loading speed, I have retained the images because they help explain solutions which have long term benefits
Thanks to Barb Abrahms, Mickey Friedman, Don Hines, Jack Raidy, Mike Vermeulin, and Elliot Wolf for their help in the conception, production, and publication of this guide.
I hope my suggestions help to improve your performance with QuickBooks.
