Be Consistent with Upper and Lower Case

It is difficult to read and understand a report or list when some names are only upper case and some names are both upper and lower case. This usually happens when someone works inconsistently, or several people with different styles work with your QuickBooks file. This is an easy problem to clean up.

In the example below, Gas & Oil, Mileage, and Dues are upper case, but the other accounts are upper and lower case. This makes your list uneven and difficult to read.

In the example below, Gas & Oil, Mileage, and Dues are upper case, but the other accounts are upper and lower case. This makes your report uneven and difficult to read.

To correct this you, should edit the account names so that they are all only upper case or all only upper and lower case (recommended).

Procedure:

1) In the Chart of Accounts, click on "MILEAGE".

2) With "MILEAGE" highlighted, click on "Account".

3) Click "Edit Account ".

4) In the "Name" box, type "Mileage" with only the initial letter in caps.

5) Click "OK".

The result of editing account names so that upper and lower case are consistent is that your Chart of Accounts and reports will be easier to read.
